The world-renowned barista coffee competition will be held in Busan next month.
The Busan Metropolitan Government announced on that it will hold the World of Coffee & World Barista Championship in cooperation with the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) at BEXCO for four days from May 1st.
The event is divided into a world-renowned high-quality coffee exhibition and a world barista competition that selects world-class coffee stars.
The World Barista Championship will feature a competition in which national baristas from 60 countries will challenge for the champion. Paul Bassett won in 2015 and James Hoffman in 2016, and Jeon Ju-yeon, a barista, became the first Korean to win in 2019.
250 domestic and foreign companies will participate in the World of Coffee exhibition to showcase coffee-related products, technologies and services. More than 12,000 visitors, including officials from the coffee industry from more than 70 countries, will attend the exhibition.
A large number of domestic and foreign cafes will participate in the event to promote coffee and brands, and the SCA Community Lounge, a place for global coffee exchange, a coffeeshipping room, and a hands-on seminar program to promote coffee culture will be held. A promotion center will also be operated to promote the coffee city of Busan.
